Afternoon Tea | Covent Garden

Afternoon Tea in Covent Garden

There’s something about going for an afternoon tea that feels extremely British. On our most recent trip to London, we decided to take advantage of the experience day voucher that had been at home gathering dust for some time. Red Letter Days provide a huge range of gift experiences from Michelin-star gourmet treats to fast-paced track experience days.

After whittling down the options, we decided to go for the Afternoon Tea for Two at Boulevard Brasserie in Covent Garden.

Boulevard Brasserie is a traditional French restaurant located in the heart of Covent Garden’s Opera Quarter. The low-lit, intimate atmosphere and classic decor reflected a true Parisian style. The staff were very friendly and quickly showed us to our window-side table on the first floor, which was a great little spot for people-watching.

The waiter talked us through the set menu to give us a sense of what to expect, and we selected our brew from a variety of black and herbal teas. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed tasting the different sandwiches, scones, cakes and desserts that were on offer to us. At first glance it didn’t seem like there was a huge amount of food, but we actually found it to be very filling!

This was my first experience of a traditional afternoon tea and I very much enjoyed sitting back, taking in the scenes below and sipping on a good cuppa. The food was absolutely delicious – so delicious that we struggled to pick a favourite.

If I were to visit again, I think I’d spend the extra pennies to get the Champagne Afternoon Tea for Two, as we could see others around us with this option and the staff were very generous with the bubbly.

Overall, the location in the centre of Covent Garden was fantastic, and we made sure to explore the surrounding markets and shopping areas before heading to our next destination, The Shard.
